The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) requires states to provide courtesy child welfare services on behalf of children who are legally wards of other states, when such services are requested. The need for Interstate services has continued to rapidly increase in recent years and Kmetko and Associates, Ltd. has grown to meet that need. While initially preparing home studies in 1990, the agency now provides adoption studies, licensing studies, and supervision services. Kmetko and Associates, Ltd. handles 60% - 70% of all Illinois Interstate Compact requests. We receive an average of 360 requests a year for home studies and supervise over 250 children placed with Illinois caregivers. Our goal is to provide comprehensive and timely reports as well as quality services. We remain committed to advocating on behalf of families and working cooperatively with other agencies both public and private.
